Music Theory and Composition
Welcome to the BeatFuse music theory and music composition section. We’re not quite ready to unleash the wealth of information that we’ve been developing for the last two years, but you can be sure to expect something really great. Something really simple. Something that will allow every rap, pop and urban music producer and beat maker to elevate their game to new levels. The tutorials we’re going to be dropping is true game-changing stuff.
I heard music theory was not important for my genre? Is this true?
Music theory is definitely important. Even if you’re making the most simple hip hop melodies over basic beats, having some grasp on music theory and compositional concepts will help you a lot — even if you’re only going to be using two fingers to compose the melodies on your MIDI keyboard!
To learn music theory properly, it is important to be attentive. That’s why we’re developing our beginners music theory course with videos and other media to be as direct and effective as possible. Even advanced music theory will creep into the free course material.
To compose music easily and not feel limited, knowledge helps as well. That’s why we’re going to teach you how to compose music as it applies to YOUR artform — whether rap or pop or dance music. It’s going to help immensely to learn music composition, you can be sure of that. Keep an eye on this page. We’ll launch this section by May, 2010.
